The North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources approved eight new drilling permits on Friday, August 7, with all activity concentrated in the northwestern corner of the Bakken in Divide County.

Phoenix Operating LLC was the most active applicant, receiving approval for a five-well pad named "Monkey Barrel." The permits, numbered #43189 through #43193, are for the MONKEY BARREL 14-23-26-35 1H through 5H wells. All are located in the NE NW of Section 14-162N-102W within the Alkabo field.

Koda Resources Operating LLC followed with three approved permits. The company secured permits #43194, #43195, and #43196 for the BOCK 1435-4BH, 5BH, and 6BH wells. These are also in Divide County, situated in the Daneville field.

The day's filings indicate continued operator focus on the Bakken's core areas, with Divide County being a primary target for new drilling programs. The approval of two multi-well pads suggests planning for efficient, concentrated development.
