The North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources approved four new drilling permits on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, according to the agency's daily activity report. EOG Resources was the most active applicant, securing three permits, while a smaller operator filed for one.

EOG Resources received approval for three horizontal wells, all named "Clearwater," in Mountrail County's Clear Water field. The permitted wells are CLEARWATER 33-3024H (permit #43062), CLEARWATER 50-3024H (#43063), and CLEARWATER 51-3018H (#43064). The fourth permit, #42751, was issued to Formentera Operations, LLC for the LAGUNA VISTA-13-01-PGN N516H well in Divide County.

The report also listed confidential status changes for ten existing wells operated by four different companies. These filings typically indicate an operator has begun drilling or completed a well and is requesting the state keep specific data confidential for a period, often six months.

Devon Energy Williston, L.L.C., reported the most activity in this category with five notices. The company filed for the OWAN TRUST SOUTH 32-33-34F 3H (#41948) and 4H (#41949) wells in Williams County, and three wells in McKenzie County: FOREST 26-35 2H (#42098), FOREST 26-35 XW 1H (#42425), and FOREST 26-35 5H (#42426).

Oasis Petroleum North America LLC filed three confidential status notices for wells in a single Williams County unit. The permits are for the RELLA W 5303 13-18 2B (#42344), 3B (#42345), and 4BX (#42346) wells. The company also filed a notice for the NELSON STATE FEDERAL 5202 13-13 2B (#42410) well in McKenzie County.

The final confidential status change was filed by Enerplus Resources USA Corporation for its PEARL 148-95-03A-10H well (#39801) in McKenzie County.

The activity underscores continued drilling operations in the core counties of the Bakken formation. McKenzie and Williams Counties, which contain some of the most productive acreage in the basin, saw confidential filings on eight wells. Mountrail County, another established production area, was the focus of EOG's new permit applications.
