Oasis Petroleum North America LLC was the sole operator to secure new drilling permits from the North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources yesterday, according to the agency's daily activity report. The company received three permits, all for wells in the same Dunn County section.

The approved permits, #43385, #43386, and #43387, are for the Lovegood Federal 4595 42-19 3B, 4B, and 5B wells, respectively. All are located in SW SE 19-145N-95W within the Murphy Creek field in Dunn County.

In other confidential status changes, Devon Energy Williston, L.L.C. had its Corvette 34-35-36-1H well in Williams County released from confidential status. According to the report, two permits for Whiting Oil and Gas Corporation in McKenzie County were canceled. The Toonie 5001 11-18 4B and 5B wells, located in NE NW 18-150N-101W in the Pronghorn field, are no longer active.

Additionally, two permits for Burlington Resources Oil & Gas Company LP in McKenzie County were canceled. The Demicks Lake 1B MBH and Clemens 1A-TFH wells, both in SE SW 7-151N-96W, were listed as cancellations.

The report highlighted two new producing well completions, both from Burlington Resources Oil & Gas Company LP in McKenzie County. The Rolla 6C well, located in SW NW 09-151N-97W, reported an initial production rate of 520 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) and 473 barrels of water per day (BWPD). The Rolla 6E well, in the same section, reported a stronger initial rate of 753 BOPD with 138 BWPD.

The day's activity underscores continued operations by major Bakken players in core areas. Oasis's new permits focus on the Murphy Creek field in Dunn County, while the most significant production results came from Burlington's development in McKenzie County, a historical core of the Bakken play.

DMR Daily Activity Report Shows No New Permits or Filings Sunday

No new oil and gas activity was recorded in North Dakota’s official daily report for Sunday, October 4, according to the state Department of Mineral Resources. The DMR's daily activity report, which tracks regulatory filings from operators, contained no new permits, well completions, spud reports, or notices of plugged wells. The daily report is a key source for tracking near-real-time operational activity in the Bakken formation and broader Williston Basin. It typically includes new permits approved for drilling, notices that a well has been spudded (drilling commenced), reports of well completions (when a well is finished and ready for production), and official notifications of well plugging. Days with no new filings are a normal occurrence in the state's reporting system, especially following weekends and state holidays when operator offices and regulatory processing may be offline. The lack of new activity in a single daily report does not indicate a trend,...
