Oasis Petroleum Leads Daily Permitting with Six New Dunn County Wells

The DMR approved six new permits and three renewals on Monday, with activity concentrated in Dunn and Divide counties.

The North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources approved six new drilling permits on Monday, October 5, 2026, all filed by Oasis Petroleum North America LLC. According to the DMR Daily Activity Report, all six permits are for wells in the Murphy Creek field of Dunn County.

The approved permits include four wells on the Potter pad (#43369, #43370, #43371, #43372) and two wells on the Weasley pad (#43373, #43374). All six permits are located at NE SE 29-145N-95W, indicating a concentrated development plan by the operator in that specific section.

Three existing permits were also renewed. According to the report, Formentera Operations, LLC renewed its permit for the RANGER 3328-3TFH well in Lot 4, Section 4-162N-98W, Divide County, Blooming Prairie field. The permit is listed as ‘CONFIDENTIAL’ and its location is noted as being outside of a spacing unit.

Two permits held by Koda Resources Operating, LLC in Divide County were canceled. The canceled permits are for the ALE 1534-5BHC and ALE 1534-1BHNC wells, both located in SW SE 15-161N-103W.

The report also listed several changes to well confidentiality status. Two Oasis Petroleum wells in Mountrail County were noted: the EMIE FEDERAL 5792 31-7 5B in Lot 6, Section 07-157N-92W (#41617) and the SPYGLASS FEDERAL 5793 24-13 2B in SE NE 13-157N-93W (#41855).

A well operated by Devon Energy Williston, L.L.C. in Williams County was released from confidential status. The well is the CORVETTE 34-35-36-2H, located in NW SW 34-155N-102W (#42191).

Finally, a Koda Resources Operating, LLC well in Divide County was also released from confidential status. That well is the STOUT 1301-4BH, located in SW SE 13-160N-102W in the Fertile Valley field (#41753).

Monday's activity underscores continued operator focus on the core Bakken counties, with Dunn County seeing the bulk of new permit approvals.
