Oil prices moved higher Wednesday as escalating tensions between the United States and Iran stalled peace talks, according to Rigzone. This increase in crude benchmarks provides a supportive price environment for Bakken shale production, though it also introduces market volatility tied to geopolitical risk in a key oil-producing region.
In parallel developments in the global energy sector, two European energy giants announced significant steps in the energy transition. Spanish utility Iberdrola has started up Spain's largest battery energy storage project, Rigzone reported. The facility has 58 MW of power and 120 MWh of storage capacity, which the company sees as a key pillar for electrification and renewable integration.
Separately, Spanish energy company Repsol has added 200,000 tons of annual production capacity for renewable fuels, according to Rigzone. The new capacity is located at its Puertollano Industrial Complex and represents its second plant dedicated exclusively to producing 100% renewable fuels.
