The North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources approved seven new drilling permits in its daily activity report for Wednesday, July 22, 2026. Operator Spotted Hawk Development, LLC was the most active, securing four of the new permits in McLean County.

All four of Spotted Hawk's new permits are for wells named "MUFASA" in a confidential field. The permits are for the MUFASA 30-2-MB, 30-3-TF, 30-4-MB, and 30-5-TF locations. The other three new permits went to Devon Energy Williston, L.L.C., Berenergy Corporation, and Enerplus Resources USA Corporation.

Devon's permit is for the BLUEFIN 13F 3H well in McKenzie County's Siverston field. Berenergy's permit is for the KUNKEL 6H well in a confidential field in Renville County. Enerplus received a permit for the MAGNUM 5301 36 6BX well in McKenzie County's Baker field.

The DMR also processed seven permit renewals. Lime Rock Resources III-A, L.P. renewed three permits for its "MARINER" wells (1-15-8H-160-91P, 2-15-8H-160-91P, and 3-15-8H-160-91P) in Burke County's Dimond field.

KODA Resources Operating, LLC. renewed three permits, all noting "LOCATION OUTSIDE OF SPACING UNIT." Two renewals are for the BOCK 1534-5BH and 1534-6BH wells in Divide County's Daneville field, and one is for the BOCK 3408-5BH well in Divide County's Fertile Valley field.

One well was listed as a producing well completed. Petro-Hunt, L.L.C.'s STATE 159-92-36C-24-1H well in Mountrail County was reported with initial production of 249 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) and 2,319 barrels of water per day (BWPD).

The additional information section listed two confidential status changes. Devon Energy Williston, L.L.C. filed for the WILLIAM 25-36 XW 1H well in McKenzie County, and Oasis Petroleum North America LLC filed for the CRAIG 5892 31-28 3B well in Mountrail County.

The new permit activity shows continued operator focus on the core Bakken counties of McKenzie and McLean. The renewal activity, particularly the spacing unit notations for KODA's permits, highlights ongoing administrative work to maintain drilling inventory across the basin.
