North Dakota regulators approved five new drilling permits and 16 renewals, while confidential status was lifted on two previously filed wells.

North Dakota's Department of Mineral Resources approved five new drilling permits and 16 permit renewals in its latest daily activity report. The new permits were split between XTO Energy Inc. and Devon Energy Williston L.L.C.

XTO Energy received three permits for the "Nautilus Federal" project in Dunn County. All three wells—#42875, #42876, and #42877—are located in the NW SE of Section 19-148N-96W within a confidential field. Devon Energy secured two permits in McKenzie County's Foreman Butte field: the "Albert South 34-33-32 3H" (#42878) and the "Albert North 27-28-29 2H" (#42879).

The report also listed 16 permit renewals. Enerplus Resources USA Corporation filed four renewals for wells in the McGregory Buttes field of Dunn County, with three noted as involving a "proposed drillback outside of spacing unit." Oasis Petroleum North America LLC filed one renewal in Williams County.

Several wells previously granted confidential status saw updates. According to the report, two wells were released from confidential status: Whiting Oil and Gas Corporation's "Paulson Federal 5104 44-13 6BX" in McKenzie County and Devon Energy's "Finn 13-25F 3H" in Williams County. Two Enerplus wells and one XTO Energy well had updates listed under "confidential status changes."

The report included notable initial production data from seven newly completed wells, all operated by Burlington Resources Oil & Gas Company LP. Five wells on the "State Dodge" pad in SE SE 21-151N-96W, McKenzie County, showed strong results. The "Rader Dodge 3E MBH ULW" (#39522) led the group with an initial production of 4,611 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) and 1,785 barrels of water per day (BWPD). Other wells on the pad reported rates between 2,163 and 3,405 BOPD.

In Dunn County, Burlington's "Tilton" pad in SE NW 18-147N-97W reported results for four wells. The "Tilton 3E" (#41068) had the highest output at 1,698 BOPD, while the "Tilton 2C" (#41065) reported 1,491 BOPD with no water production.

Other administrative actions included a well being listed as "disposal now abandoned" and the approval of a saltwater disposal (SWD) permit. Henry Hill Oil Services, LLC's "Van Eeckhout 33-5" in Mountrail County was listed as abandoned. Phoenix Operating, LLC received an SWD permit (#42874) for the "Candy Ferrari 1 SWD" in Divide County.
