DMR Approves Five Bakken Permits, Four by Koda in Divide County
Yesterday's filings show new permit activity in East Goose Lake and a confidential McLean County well, plus SWD completions, abandonments and name changes.
The DMR Daily Activity Report covering yesterday's filings shows five permits approved in the Williston Basin, with Koda Resources Operating LLC accounting for four approvals in Divide County's East Goose Lake field.
According to the DMR report, the Koda permits were numbered #43451 through #43454. They were approved for wells named ALE 1534-1BHN, ALE 1534-2BHN, ALE 1534-3BHN and ALE 1534-4BHN. The report lists all four as located in Divide County and in the East Goose Lake field.
The fifth approved permit, #43455, was for Spotted Hawk Development LLC's War Eagle 22-31H well in McLean County. The DMR report identifies the field for that permit as confidential.
The permit activity shows Koda Resources as the most active filer among operators named in the approved-permit section. Spotted Hawk Development was the only other operator named among the five permits. For Bakken operators and royalty owners, the four approvals are all in the East Goose Lake area, while the McLean County permit is listed under a confidential field.
The DMR report also included additional status changes. It listed two wells under "Painted Woods SWD wells completed": Devon Energy Williston, L.L.C.'s Owan Trust North 29-28-27F 2H, located in the NW NW 29-154N-103W section in Williams County, and Henry Hill Oil Services, LLC's Schaper SWD 1, located in the SESW 24-146N-92W section in Dunn County. The DMR report shows those entries under permit numbers #41909 and #41456.
The report listed Ballard Petroleum Holdings, LLC's Borstad 12-30-B, in the SWNW 30-159N-81W section in Bottineau County, as a producer now abandoned under permit #43036. It also listed Rocky Top Energy, LLC's Davis Federal 1-31H, in the SWSW 32-151N-102W section in McKenzie County, under "continued 2 SWD now abandoned" and permit #16190.
Two well name changes were reported. Devon Energy Williston's Mont 11-28 SWD, located in the NWSE 28-155N-102W section in Williams County, appears under permit #99187. Spotted Hawk Development's War EagleX 22-31H, located in the SE NW 31-150N-90W section in McLean County, was previously listed as War Eagle 22-31H under permit #31110.
The confidential permit and the name-change entry both involve McLean County and the War Eagle 22-31H name. The DMR report shows the Spotted Hawk well now also recorded as War EagleX 22-31H.
The daily activity report provides a snapshot of permit approvals and status changes across the Williston Basin, with new permit activity concentrated in Divide County and McLean County and additional changes touching Williams, Dunn, Bottineau and McKenzie counties.
