DMR Approves Six New Permits, Nine Renewals in Divide, Bowman Counties
Phoenix Operating and Koda Resources lead daily activity with new wells and permit extensions, while five wells released from confidential status.
The North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) approved six new drilling permits and nine permit renewals in its latest daily activity report, with activity concentrated in Divide County. According to the report, Phoenix Operating LLC was the most active filer, securing five of the six new permits.
All five of Phoenix Operating's new permits are for the Alkabo field in Divide County. The permits are for the TOP GUN 30-19-18-7 1HF through 4HF wells and the ROOSTER 29-20-17-8 4HF well, all located in the NW NE of section 31-162N-102W. The sixth new permit was issued to Marlo Operating Company, LLC for a confidential wildcat well named TOSCO BRANCH 2 in Bowman County.
Koda Resources Operating, LLC was the most active in the permit renewal category, accounting for seven of the nine renewals. According to the DMR report, five of Koda's renewed permits—the BOCK 2133-6BH, 7BH, and 8BH in the Daneville field and the KOLSCH 3119-3BH and 4BH in the Writing Rock field—are listed as proposed drillbacks outside of the spacing unit, all in Divide County. Koda also renewed two permits with well name changes for the ALE 1534-5BHC and ALE 1534-1BHNC wells, also in Divide County.
The other two renewals included a horizontal re-entry permit cancellation for Marlo Operating Company's TOSCO BRANCH 4 well in Bowman County and a well name change for Formentera Operations, LLC's MCCALLISTER-25-25-PGN A211VW well in Burke County.
In additional status changes, two wells operated by Hess Bakken Investments II, LLC in McKenzie County were listed with confidential status changes. Furthermore, five wells were released from confidential status, according to the report. These include Devon Energy Williston, L.L.C.'s BORSHEIM 33-28 5H and BORSHEIM 34-27 XE 1H in the Todd field of Williams County, and Phoenix Operating LLC's CHARLENE FERRARI 9-4 2H and CHARLENE FERRARI 9-4 3H in the Big Meadow field of Williams County.
The daily report underscores continued administrative and permitting activity in the Bakken's northwestern core, particularly in Divide County. The release of wells from confidential status typically indicates that initial production data for those wells will soon become publicly available.
