The sell-off comes despite multiple bullish geopolitical headlines and follows the release of U.S. inventory data. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported a modest 600,000-barrel draw in commercial crude stocks for the week ending September 11, a figure that contradicted the American Petroleum Institute's (API) prior report of a 7.14-million-barrel build. The EIA data also showed a continued softness in fuel demand, with total product supplied over the last four weeks down 0.6% year-over-year.
