Petro-Hunt Secures Lone Permit as Slawson Files Multiple Well Completions

Daily state filings show minimal new drilling approvals but continued development activity in Mountrail County.

North Dakota's Department of Mineral Resources approved one new drilling permit in filings dated Monday, October 26, according to the agency's daily activity report. Petro-Hunt L.L.C. was granted permit #43436 for the JOYCE 160-98-4B-16-2H well in Divide County. The permit is listed for the 'CONFIDENTIAL' field.

While new permit activity was light, several operators reported well status changes, indicating ongoing development work. Slawson Exploration Company, Inc. was the most active filer, submitting completion reports for three horizontal wells in Mountrail County's Kittleson Slough field. The wells are PEGASUS 1-16-21UH (#42745), WARLOCK FEDERAL 3-15-13H (#42746), and WARLOCK FEDERAL 2-15-13H (#42747). All three are located in Section 16 of Township 157 North, Range 91 West.

Other operators also updated well statuses. Whiting Oil and Gas Corporation reported on the PAULSON 5104 44-13 6BX well (#42229) in McKenzie County's Assiniboine field, located in Section 13 of Township 151 North, Range 104 West. Separately, SOGC, LLC filed a report for the YAUCH 3-4-LEH6 well (#42445) in McKenzie County's Lone Butte field, located in Section 3 of Township 147 North, Range 98 West.

The single new permit continues a trend of measured activity in the Bakken region, with operators focusing on completing and bringing existing wells online. The confidential status of the Petro-Hunt permit in Divide County is not uncommon and typically shields specific well data for a limited period.

The filings highlight activity in the core Bakken counties of McKenzie and Mountrail, which have historically been among the most prolific for oil production in North Dakota. Slawson's multi-well completion report in Mountrail County underscores continued development in established areas.
