The North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources approved four new drilling permits in filings dated Tuesday, September 15, 2026, according to the agency's Daily Activity Report. Continental Resources and EOG Resources each secured two permits.

Continental Resources' approved permits, #43302 and #43303, are for the JENNER 2-16H and MARYLAND FEDERAL 6-16H wells, both located in Williams County and designated for the 'CONFIDENTIAL' field. EOG Resources' permits, #43304 and #43305, are for the SHELL 57-3305H and SHELL 58-3305H wells in Mountrail County's prolific Parshall field.

The report also detailed several wells released from confidential status, providing their first production data to the public. Hess Bakken Investments II, LLC, had two wells released: the SC-MARI-153-98-2223H-3 in Williams County and the EN-WILL TRUST A- 157-94-2734H-4 in Mountrail County's Big Butte field. Burlington Resources Oil & Gas Company LP also had two Haystack Butte field wells in McKenzie County released: the HBU BADLANDS 8S MBH and the HBU HAZEL 6S MBH.

Other releases included an Enerplus Resources USA Corporation well, the LITTLE CHASE CREEK 4797 43-21 2BHP in Dunn County, and a Hess well in the White Earth field of Mountrail County, the EN-WILL TRUST C- 157-94-2215H-6. Oasis Petroleum North America LLC's MILKWEED 5302 14-36 5B well in McKenzie County's Indian Hill field was also listed as released.

The report included one notable well completion with initial production data. Continental Resources, Inc., completed the BRAKKEN FIU 2-6H in McKenzie County. The well reported a strong initial production rate of 2,406 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) and 1,061 barrels of water per day (BWPD).

The activity underscores ongoing operator focus on the core Bakken production counties of Williams, Mountrail, and McKenzie. The new permits for Continental and EOG target established areas, while the batch of confidentiality releases provides market watchers and royalty owners with new performance data on wells drilled by major operators like Hess and Burlington.
